1.     Threading the Needle

• Equipment: Drone and a cardboard box large enough to fly through when both ends of the box are open.

​

• Challenge: Drone must fly through the open box at a designated entry point and exit through the other end of the box for a complete repetition. The entry and exit points of the box must remain the same for every repetition

​

• Scoring: Every time the drone successfully completes a repetition, a point is earned. This is a timed challenge of 60 seconds.

2.     Box Drop Throughs 

​

​

​

• Equipment: Drone, two chairs, and a cardboard box large enough to fly through when both ends of the box are open.

​

• Challenge: : Drone must vertically descend through the box at the upper opening and exit through lower opening for a complete repetition. The entry and exit points of the box must remain the same for every repetition. 

​

• Scoring: Every time the drone successfully completes a repetition, a point is earned. This is a timed challenge of 90 seconds.

3.    Box Hops

​

• Equipment: Drone and at least two cardboard boxes with the suggested measurements of at least 8 inches by 12 inches. 

​

• Challenge: : Drone will take off from the top of one box and land on the other box for a complete repetition.

​

• Scoring: The pilot will earn a point for every successful repetition. This is a timed challenge of 60 seconds.

4.    Pilot Mix

​

​

• Equipment: Drone and 4 cardboard boxes of various sizes; 2 boxes will need to be large enough for the pilot to fly through vertically or horizontally, while two boxes will need to be large enough to land on quickly. 

​

• Challenge: This challenge is an obstacle course combination of challenges one through three. The course will start with a box drop, then go directly into a threading the needle and will end with the pilot landing on a box at the end of the course. To begin a new repetition, the pilot must do a box hop back to the box at the start of the course. 

​

• Scoring: The pilot’s time will begin when they launch their drone from the start box. 5 points will be awarded for every successful repetition of the course. This is a timed challenge of 90 seconds.
